The National Association of Young Historians of Moldova (ANTIM), in partnership with DVV International Moldova – the Representative Office of the German Adult Education Association in Moldova – have launched the project “Dialogue of generations: from recollection to reconciliation”.

In a news conference at IPN, ANTIM leader Sergiu Musteata said the goal of the project is to interconnect the generations – the young people and the elderly ones. The communication with persons from different cultural environments and with different attitudes to life will facilitate understanding between generations. By this project, they aim to overcome the lack of communication. They want the generation from the Communist period, especially those who went though the ordeal of deportation, to overcome the fear to speak about those times, while the young people should learn directly from them how they lived then.

Adela Scutaru-Gutu, director of the Representative Office of DVV International in Moldova, told the journalists that the organization aims to promote adult education. There were launched a number of projects, especially in regions where there are conflicts, whereby they promote the acceptance of the past. The moderators of the project ““Dialogue of generations: from recollection to reconciliation” will try to bring the participants to the moment when they will accept their past and will see its nice part.

There were already selected ten settlements that delegated by two representatives to be trained in oral history and adult education. On April 3-5, there will be held a seminar for the 20 participants who include teachers of history, librarians and newspapermen. After the seminar, the patricians will go to the settlements they represent and will stage meetings between generations and will collect life stories. In autumn, the collected information will be systematized and the first results of the project will be presented at yearend.

The ANTIM and DVV Moldova aim to extend the project that is now a pilot one. The participants will be later able to launch their own projects and to help other settlements to create dialogues between generations.
