Prohibition on fishing

The Ministry of Environment bans sports and amateur fishing in the natural fishponds of Moldova between March 25 and June 9. According to an order made by Minister of Environment Valeriu Munteanu, signed on March 24, the fishing of mollusks, crustaceans and other aquatic organisms is banned, IPN reports.

Under the order, fishing in the Cuchurgan accumulation lake is banned between March 25 and May 31, in the Prut, from the northern border of Moldova with Ukraine until Tetcani, from the Costesti-Stanca accumulation lake up to Giurgiulesti village, in the Costesti-Stanca accumulation lake and in the Manta marshes - between April 1 and May 30, while in the Nistru River, from Naslavcea up to Camenca - between April 1 and June 9.

Fishing in the period is also not allowed in the Cahul lake and the Dubasari accumulation lake and in the rivers Ciorna, Raut, Ichel, Byk and Botna, Larga, Vilia, Lopatnic, Racovat, Ciuhur, Camenca, Garla Mare, Delia, Narnova, Lapusna, Sarata, Tigheci, Cogalnic, Cahul, and Ialpug, except for artificial ponds build on them.
