Though the Republic of Moldova faces a political crisis, the progress made during the last two years is much more visible, U.S. Ambassador to Moldova William Moser said in a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Government, the Premier thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to strengthening democracy in Moldova. “Over the last two years, the relations between Moldova and the United States saw unprecedented development in all the areas. We want to keep this pace and will thus continue to implement our reform program,” said Vlad Filat. The two officials conferred on the official Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format that took place in Dublin at the end of February. Vlad Filat said the Government of Moldova will continue to take steps to build confidence between the two sides of the Nistru River, including by projects in the areas of culture and sport. For his part, William Moser said the U.S. Government is ready to support the effort made in this respect. The interlocutors also discussed the financial assistance of US$262 million provided by the U.S. to Moldova within the Compact Program of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Moldova’s European agenda, the steps taken in the European integration process and the measures that will be taken in continuation.
