Dumitru Matcovschi will be buried in his native village, according to his will. The program of the funeral was worked out by a state commission headed by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
On June 27 at 7pm, the poet will be taken to Saint Dumitru Church that is situated at 3/1 Traian St in Botanica district. Everyone will have access to bid farewell to the bard.
On June 28 at 9am, a funeral service will be held at Saint Dumitru Church, while at 11am the coffin will be taken to the Azure Hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. At 2pm, the poet’s friends and admirers will be able to give speeches and say goodbye to the poet there.
On June 2 at 11am, Dumitru Matcovschi will be buried at the cemetery in Vadul-Rascov village in Soldanesti district, which is the poet’s place of birth.
Dumitru Matcovschi, 73, passed away at the hospital in the evening of June 26 after undergoing brain surgery. Two decades ago, the poet was seriously injured in a road accident s a result of which he had been in a coma for a long period and was repeatedly operated.
