Program of activities on Romanian Language Day

The Romanian Language Day celebrated on August 31 will start with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy and at the busts from the Alley of Classical Writers in the central park of Chisinau, starting at 10am.

Head of the Chisinau Culture Division Lucia Culev has told IPN that afterward, homage will be rendered to the Romanian language on the Alley of Classical Writers. There will be staged recitals of poetry and music and exhibitions of ceramics, handicrafts etc., contests, especially for children, and different presentations, including an earthenware workshop with the involvement of artist Vasile Goncear.

The choral ensemble directed by Oleg Constantinov, the folk dances ensemble “Hora-Horita” and the folklore ensemble “Vatra de dor” of the Arts School of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, will perform in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great”.

An extraordinary concert dedicated to the Romanian Language Day will be given in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau in the evening of August 31. The Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers, the Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Dumitru Carciumaru and “Alex Calancea” band will be involved in a unique ‘confrontation’ with replies from the famous music of Antonio Vivaldi, Carl Orff and Niccolo Paganini, the Romanian “Ciocarlia” and the wonderful works of Moldovan composers Mihai Dolgan, Valentin Danga, Anatol Dumitras, Teodorovici brothers and others. Masters Eugen Doga, Stefan Petrache, Anatol Chiriac, Constantin Rusnac, Iurie Sadovnic, Lidia Botezatu and Radu Dolgan will also mount the stage.

The concert will also involve soloists Mariana Bulicanu, Ana Chernikova, Ionel and Alexandru Manciu, Cristina Pintilie, Natalia Barbu, Catalin Josan, Adrian Ursu, Ricu Voda, Catharsis, Aura, Georgeta Voinovan, Andrei Ionita, Valeria Pasa, Stefan Neguta, Stela Botan, Serj Kuzenkov, Viorel Burlacu, Gloria Gorceag, Costi Bulrlacu and Corina Tepes, Diana Rotaru, Felicia Dunaf, Doinita Gherman, Diana Brescan, Victoria Lungu, Cezara, Zinaida Julea, Igor Rusu, Mihai Ciobanu, Osoianu sisters, Plaiesii etc.
