The article forms part of IPN’s series to present candidates for mayor of the municipality of Balti at the general local elections of November 5, 2023.
The Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova designated the resident of Balti Alexandru Gustoi as a candidate for mayor of Balti municipality at the general local elections of November 5. He is 46 and since 2005 has been a member of the party.
He is a graduate of the Baltic Institute of Ecology, Politics and Law of Moldova, a jurist by profession. In 2013-2015, he served as a municipal councilor in Balti on behalf of the Party of Communists.
Since 2014, he has formed part of the team of the municipal enterprise “Balti Trolleybus Company”. He held the post of chief mechanic, then of video surveillance system engineer. He heads an association of condominium co-owners.
For the period between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, he declared incomes of 281,000 lei. The sum includes the earnings at the main job and the salaries as head of the association of condominium co-owners. Alexandru Gustoi owns an apartment to the value of 133,586 lei, bought in 1999, which is 49.4 square meters in area. He also owns a 50% holding in the joint stock company “Primgamateh” SRL, which was registered in the municipality of Balti.
The priorities announced by candidate Alexandru Gustoi include the development of the educational system in the municipality of Balti, ensuring of financing and maintenance for all the preschools and schools, rigorous monitoring of the distribution of the allocated funds, modernization of infrastructure in all the micro-districts of the city, improvement of the quality of service in the housing sector, thermal insulation of multistory apartment buildings, installation of solar panels.
The candidate also aims to develop and support the municipal enterprises and to repair streets. The attraction of investments for developing the infrastructure, creating new high-paying jobs and stimulation of economic growth in the municipality of Balti are another three tasks set by Alexandru Gustoi.
This is the first attempt by Alexandru Gustoi to contend for the mayoralty of the municipality of Balti. As the draw decided, the candidate will be preliminarily under No. 4 on the ballot.
