The professional priorities of library managers in the Republic of Moldova are debated at the Forum of managers within the national library system, which takes place on October 30 at the National Library.
"The event focuses on development strategies of the public libraries and the National Library. We will focus, in particular, on the strategies of the Conference of European National Libraries, a platform for national libraries in the European area, which provides library managers every year with new development priorities arising from the priorities of the European Union", said Elena Pintilei, the general director of the National Library.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, Victoria Nagy Vajda, told IPN that, compared to other cultural sectors, the legislation on libraries is very good. "We know that there will be an evaluation of libraries and today we are discussing the implementation of evaluation criteria so that all libraries in the Republic of Moldova operate in accordance with certain rules valid throughout the country", said the MECC secretary of state.
Lidia Kulikovsky, studies and innovations director at Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu Municipal Library, told IPN that the forum of managers is important in terms of national and local priorities of the library system. "This gives us the power to work together, in the same direction. We learn new things and we take part in the discussion of general global trends in library science. It is a beneficial event for librarians", said Lidia Kulikovsky.
The topics discussed concern the promotion of reading as a basis for knowledge and development, the enhancement of librarians as facilitators of the open sciences and other related topics. At the end of the work process, the problems which the library community is facing will be included into a memo addressed to MECC.
