Grape producers are obliged to list their vineyards in the Vine and Wine Register. According to the authorities, about 15,000 ha of vineyards haven’t been yet registered. The producers are urged to do it or they will be unable to sell their grapes in autumn, IPN reports.

In a discussion with representatives of district agricultural divisions, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, said the listing of vineyards in the Vine and Wine Register became mandatory ten years ago, but all kinds of exceptions were made each time. Something like this will not happen this year.

The official noted the registration of vineyards is one of the measures requested by processors. The information added to the Vine and Wine Register includes not only the area of vineyards, but also the types of grown grapes. It is expected that this will contribute to combating counterfeiting.

According to the National Office of Vine and Wine, 89,900 vineyards and 343 vineries have been put on the Vine and Wine Register so far.
