This year turned out to be rich in fodder. The production of ewe’s and goat’s cheese is large as the animals have enough food. However, the cheese is not sold in an industrialized way and this has an impact on the sector, chairman of the Association of Goat and Sheep Breeders Pintilii Bulgaru has told IPN.
He said the farmers expect that they will have enough food for animals this year. But the people started to sell milk and cheese on the street because this sector is not industrialized.
In a large article about the development of agriculture during the 22 years after the proclamation of Moldova’s independence, Alexandru Slusari, who heads the National Federation of Employers in Agriculture and Food Industry, said that if the authorities do not intervene immediately to improve the situation, the animal-breeding sector of Moldova risks disappearing in 5-8 years.
Currently, a kilogram of ewe’s cheese from the producer costs at most 50 lei.
