Producer of Carbon takes National Award

The producer and director of the film “Carbon” Ion Borș and scriptwriter Mariana Starchuk, dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts of the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts, were offered the National Award for originality and for pormoting Moildova’s image in the cinematograohic sector, IPN reports.

The National Award will also go to plastic artist Vladimir Palamarchuk for prodigious work, for the metaphorical and symbolical language of his works, for promoting the cultural values at national and international levels.

Writer, dramatist, master of arts Larisa Turea got the National Award for the work “Book of Famine” that contains accounts of survivors and original archive documents about the postwar famine in the Moldavian USSR as an instrument to break the resistance to the Soviet regime.

Among the awardees are also doctor of philology, literary and historical critic Nina Korchinski, director of the Institute of Romanian Philology “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu”, doctor of philology, poet, critic, director of the Doctoral School of Philology of the Balti State University “Alecu Russo” Nicolae Leahu, university lecturer, artistic director and first conductor of the Academic Choir “Doina” Ilona Stepan, master of arts, artistic director of the National Theater “Luceafărul” Veaceslav Sambriș.

The National Award also went to the team of the National Center of Spatial Technologies of the Moldova Technical University for developing and launching Moldova’s nanosatellite “TUMnanoSAT”, which includes rector Viorel Bostan, senior scientific researchers and project director Nicolae Secrieru, and scientific researchers Valentin Ilco, Vladimir Melnic, Alexei Martiniuc, and Vladimir Vărzaru.

The National Award was conferred on the “TeleFilm-Chișinău” Department of “Teleradio- Moldova” Company for substantial contribution to developing society and strengthening the values, heritage and image of the Republic of Moldova. This includes director Mircea Surdu, deputy director Leonid Melnic, producer Eugeniu Popovici, editor Lucia Tăut, and cameraman Roman Gațcan.

The list of 2023 National Award laureates was approved by the Cabinet. The winners were chosen by secret vote by the National Awards Commission on September 21.

Each year the Cabinet offers up to ten National Awards for remarkable accomplishments in science, culture, arts and sport, which helped to promote the country’s image abroad and had a considerable impact on the technical-scientific and socioeconomic progress. As the previous years, the National Award laureates will get by 100,000 lei, a diploma and a medal.
