A 19-year-old girl was manipulated by her alleged lover into providing sexual services for money and free. The case was sent to court. The culprit’s apartment estimated at about 1 million lei was sequestrated, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases.
The young woman had been sexually exploited in spring-summer 2021. The man, who is from Strășeni, got acquainted with the girl through social networking sites while he was outside Moldova. When he returned to the country, the man initiated a so-called couple relationship. He then told the girl he will continue the relationship if she provides sex for money, initially to a number of his friends. One of these friends was accused of profiting from the sexual exploitation of the young woman and faces two to five years in jail.
Afterward, the alleged lover left Moldova again and asked a friend of his to bring the girl by car from a district of central Moldova where she lived to Chisinau to provide sexual services. The girl paid by 500 lei daily from her own resources to the carrier. The man was charged with participation in trafficking in human beings and faces 7 to 15 years in jail.
The other participants in the offense are investigated in separate cases. There were identified other beneficiaries of the services provided by the girl as a victim of trafficking and these are to be indicted. On the insistence of the authorities, the victim benefited from the services of an assistance and protection center for victims and potential victims of trafficking in human beings.
