The process of registering the birth of children will be digitized and the new mechanism will start to be applied this month. The subject was discussed in a meeting of the National Council for the Protection of Children’ Rights, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu asked that the competent bodies should cooperate in implementing the electronic child birth registration mechanism. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection is to monitor the transmission of the necessary information from health facilities to the Public Services Agency.
The meeting examined the roadmap for combating violence against children that stipulates about 50 measures. It was agreed that the Council will formulate recommendations for improving this and the document will be later included in the draft new action plan for implementing the strategy for protecting children’s rights.
Premier Chicu expressed his concern about the recent crime situation and about the fact that many of the crimes involve minors. “There is no morning when I would not hear about serious cases that happened during the past 24 hours, with many of these involving children. We reap the harvest of the involution of the last few decades. Many children remained outside the education system, with one parent or with the grandparents. I think the school should be engaged more in the process of educating the children,” he stated.
The meeting also examined the assessment report on the implementation of the inclusive education development program for 2011-2020. In this connection, the Council decided to include a chapter on inclusive education, with specific measures, in the draft strategy “Education 2030” and to think up an action plan for the purpose.
UNICEF Representative in Moldova Desiree Monique Jongsma welcomed the progress made in developing inclusive education. She reiterated UNICE’s commitment to promote, follow and implement all the ideas specified in the roadmap.
Within ten days, the Council is to present subject proposals for its action plan for 2020.
