The persons who filed applications for regaining Romanian nationality in 2002, 2003 and 2004 can hasten this process by writing a letter to the Citizenship Division, Eugen Tomac, the secretary of state for relations with the Romanians from everywhere of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, has told Info-Prim Neo.
According to Tomac, after the ordinance to unblock the process of granting Romanian nationality was issued in 2002, the cases have been stored in a place where they can be never found. Thus, the persons who submitted applications for regaining Romanian nationality during 2002-2004 became victims of that ordinance and of the former Government of Romania, which dealt with the new appreciations, abandoning the older ones. Thus, the persons who filed applications during 2005-2008 received Romanian nationality, while those that filed them during 2002-2004 l – did not.
Eugen Tomac said that the Moldovan citizens who lodged applications between 2002 and 2004 must not appeal to intermediaries, who charge a tax of up to 500 euros for giving advice and 'hastening' the citizenship regaining process.
The official also said that the persons who have expected 6-7 years to be granted nationality should address a letter to the Citizenship Division of the Romanian Justice Ministry, which is to process the applications and give an answer within two months. Thus, the application will be again examined by the employees of the Citizenship Division, Eugen Tomac said.
The letter must be sent to the following address: 47 Sandor Petofi, sector 1, Bucharest, the Citizenship Division.
