The Romanian authorities decided to simplify the procedure for issuing small-scale traffic permits by introducing a new type of document – the statement on one's own responsibility – instead of a set of required documents, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Valeriu Turea said in a briefing, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The statement will be filled out at the consular section. The applicants will have to indicate why they need the permit. Besides, they will have to present the copy of the passport and a certificate issued by the mayor's office confirming that the applicant lives in a border zone.
According to Valeriu Turea, the decision was reached by Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat and his Romanian counterpart Emil Boc as a result of a discussion. No consular fee is charged for issuing a small-scale traffic permits and no stamp is put in the passport when crossing the border. The applicant pays only for the delivery of the permit through mail - 10 lei.
The first small-scale traffic permits will be issued on March 31.
On March 16, the secretary general of the Romanian Foreign Ministry Robert Cazanciuc had been in Chisinau on a visit. He had a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Mihai Capatana and discussed the facilitation of the visa regime for Moldovan travelers, especially in the area covered by the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic, Valeriu Turea said.
