The problems of the young people, such as reduced life expectancy, low productivity and other issues can be prevented by investing in youth and providing them with the necessary information, services and support to make the correct decision, prime-minister Vasile Tarlev declared at the Forum “Youth participates – community develops”, which took place on Wednesday, November 8 at the Palace of the Republic.

According to him, the leadership of the country pays a special importance to the problems of the young generation, saying that the budgetary means for the youth programs were tripled this year.
However, the prime-minister was not fully pleased with the present results of youth policy’s implementation. “Over the last years the Government in partnership with UNICEF and the civil society has made significant efforts for solving the problems of youth”, Tarlev said, declaring that the legal and institutional framework providing with the creation and promotion of high quality social services for youth was developed, including the creation of work places and advancement of youth to important positions. At the same time, the premier asserted that the Youth Strategy for 2004-2006 was implemented with a reduced participation of the youth. In light of this situation he proposed that the next strategy is more qualitative and fits the constructive proposals of the young people.
The Government promises to further support the activity of those 58 youth centers working in the country, because they contributed to the access of young generations to information.
