Pro-unification organizations in Moldova are subjected to abuses from prosecutors, who try to outlaw them, according to Anatolie Caraman, chairman of the Association of 1992 War Veterans “Tiras-Tighina”. He told a press conference at IPN that the National-Christian Movement and the “Tiragetia” Association have been hit with raids by the prosecutors.

According to him, the prosecutors seized documents, books and computers, as well as personal belongings. None of them were sealed so that the evidence can be altered in order to fabricate any accusation against the pro-unification organizations.

Anatolie Caraman says that he was personally threatened on several occasions that he could be prosecuted for his views. Caraman went on to accuse the Prosecutor General of obeying someone's political commands.

Sergiu Lascu, head of the National-Christian Movement, said that the raids followed the posting by unknown persons on social networks of offensive messages against Roma and Jews. According to Lascu, his organization didn't commit any offense and the prosecutors who used this as a reason for the searches should be sacked. “We've filed a complaint to the Prosecutor General's Office. If we don't obtain a satisfactory reaction, we'll go to the European Court of Human Rights”, said Lascu.

Gheorghe Buzu, secretary general of “Tiragetia”, told the press conference that the prosecutors who searched the premises of his organization presented a warrant that concerned the National-Christian Movement. Even if they were told that they came to the wrong office, the prosecutors seized books, documents and personal belongings of the members of the association.

Filip Druta, lawyer of the two organizations, stressed that the actions of the law enforcement bodies violated the principles of European integration and human rights. Moreover, Druta remarked that the searches resembled a robbery as the seized objects weren't sealed.

Alexandru Banari, chairman of the NGO “Justness”, advised anyone who feels intimidated to notify the foreign embassies in Moldova. He also criticized the Moldovan authorities for subjecting pro-Romanian organizations to such abuse when the Romanian government helped Moldova so much.

The pro-unification organizations also demanded the law enforcement bodies to investigate the commentaries on news site, where a few people wrote that the pro-unification people deserved to die and should be hanged in the Great National Assembly Square.
