Pro TV fined by broadcasting regulator

The Broadcasting Coordination Council at its meeting on Friday imposed a 1,800 lei fine along with a public warning on the TV channel Pro TV Chisinau for the failure to meet the quota of local programming, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Several other broadcasters, Super TV, TV Dixi and Mega TV, requested the BCC to postpone hearing of the monitoring reports that concerned them, arguing that the presented figures were questionable and promising to provide their own evidence and statistics by the next meeting.
BCC member Corneliu Mihalache disapproved of the postponement, saying it encouraged “parasitism” by substandard media products. BCC chair Marian Pocaznoi said refusing the request would be against the law and violate the broadcasters' rights.
