The public association “Pro Ortodoxia” calls upon the Metropolitan Church to institute monopoly on pictures that are somehow connected with the Church, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference, the association’s leader Ghenadie Valuta said it is not right to allow the political parties to use pictures connected with the Church and the clergy for electoral purposes.
“Though the Synod clearly explained the position of the Metropolitan Church and the Church in general on the affairs of state, some of the politicians continue to use pictures of the Church in manipulative-electoral context,” he said, referring to the Humanist Party.
Ghenadie Valuta said the church officials are indignant that the electoral posters appear without their consent.
“It is not right when the Church is used for political purposes. The Moldovan Metropolitan Church must hold monopoly on the pictures in which the Church is promoted. These images must be used when it is the case and only with the Church’s consent,” said priest Ioan Grigoras.
The representatives of “Pro Ortodoxia” said the pictures of the Church have been used in the previous election campaigns as well, but not so abusively.
