MP Andrian Candu said the parliamentary group Pro Moldova, which he leads, will support an anti-crisis government. Even if Pro Moldova wants snap parliamentary elections, these cannot be held in times of a pandemic as they will look like genocide. Both the presidential administration and Parliament should identify solutions for an anti-crisis government with an agenda for the people to be voted in. As a result of a dialogue, solutions will also be found for setting the date of snap elections, IPN reports.

After the consultations with President Maia Sandu, Andrian Candu told the press that in the meeting they disused the political crisis and the pandemic situation, including its consequences. The members of Pro Moldova are consistent and continue to believe that the snap parliamentary elections are a solution for replacing the political class, but they should be held later so that the country is not affected. The serious pandemic and economic crisis should be dealt with by a government that would implement an anti-crisis plan.

The politician noted President Sandu was told that Pro Moldova considers discussions, consultations should be held so as to overcome the crisis and to vote in an anti-crisis government that would be preferably less politically affiliated and more professional. If there is such a dialogue, this should result in the unification of the political forces for forming a broad parliamentary majority with a well-defined roadmap.

Andrian Candu said the tendencies of the pandemic crisis are worrisome. A state of emergency should be declared only if solutions for society are identified. Compensations are needed for the business community, solutions should be identified for online learning, etc. This can be done by an anti-crisis government and a parliamentary majority that would undertake this responsibility.

He also said that he understands the President’s position on the snap elections, but holding elections in times of a pandemic without finding a solution for the people is real genocide.

On March 16, President Maia Sandu is having consultations with the parliamentary groups. She already had discussions with the MPs of the Shor Party and Pro Moldova group. The meeting with the MPs of the Democratic Party was scheduled for 11am, while that with the MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” for 1pm. The consultations with the MPs of the Party of Acton and Solidarity start at 2pm, while those with the Socialist MPs at 3pm. After the consultations, President Maia Sandu will make statements for the press.
