One day after leaving the Socialist parliamentary group to join the Pro Moldova group, Ștefan Gațcan was abducted by a group of Socialist MPs when he went to the Parliament Building to take part in the meeting of the commission on social protection , health and family and was forced to sign his resignation, Pro Moldova posted on its website, being quoted by IPN.
“In the disseminated image, it is seen that Mister Gațcan had no paper in front of him, while Socialist MP Vasile Bolea had one. Also, another detail showing that the resignation application wasn’t written by Mister Gațcan is the exit number of the request (4), which comes before the application to leave the Socialist group and join PRO MOLDOVA (8) and the complaint filed to the prosecutor general (9). The whereabouts of MP Gațcan are unknown for now,” wrote Pro Moldova.
Pro Moldova also said that in the morning of July 1, Ștefan Gațcan submitted a complaint to the Prosecutor General’s Office about the harassment, intimidation and blackmail to which he was subjected by a group of Socialist MPs on June 30.
Yesterday, the MP’s car was stopped and he was threatened by a group of persons who included MPs Corneliu Furculiță and Vlad Bătrâncea. Protests were later mounted at the medical center “Extramed” (founded by Ștefan Gațcan, e.n.) with funeral wreaths brought by activists of the PSRM.
Update /4:20pm/ Chisinau Police Division press officer Natalia Stati said the police were notified and police officers are at the scene to determine all the circumstances and the actions of those attending.
The cellphone of Ștefan Gațcan is currently disconnected.
