Pro Moldova suggests introducing an annual study allowance in the amount of not less than 2,000 lei, which will be paid to the beneficiary one month before the start of the year of study, and also a monthly allowance not lower than 200 lei for each child up to the age of 18. The bill drafted by the parliamentary group of Pro Moldova also envisions the doubling of exemptions for the income tax for maintained persons from 3,000 to 6,000 lei and from 18,000 to 36,000 lei, IPN reports.

“This bill is awaited by the families that were seriously stricken by this year’s crisis that is not managed for the reason that the Government and the MPs of the parliamentary majority are preoccupied with the presidential elections. The promises of additional financial support for children are stipulated in the programs of the main candidates for President. For this reason, the adoption of this support package for families until November 1 would contribute to increasing the voters’ confidence in candidates, but first of all would help the people to have a safe source of income for children next year,” Pro Moldova president Andrian Candu stated in a press briefing.

“The bill comes to support the people who urgently need financial assistance. In the medium-and long-terms, it proposes active measures by which the state would stimulate natality,” stated Elena Bacalu, a member of the Pro Moldova group.

Earlier, Pro Moldova registered two more bills, calling on the parliamentary parties with candidates in the presidential elections to support them. One of the bills amends the Constitution by introducing a provision that obliges the state to pay a minimum pension not lower than the minimum subsistence level. The other bill provides that a part of the money collected for the Road Fund should remain in the local budgets. Besides, the state should be obliged by law to increase the regional development fund. “For now, our call to convene the plenary sitting of Parliament remained without a response, while the chance to test the responsibility and sincerity of the promises made to the voters remained unused even if many of the candidates are supported by parliamentary parties,” said the leader of Pro Moldova.
