The leaders of the three European parties, which have been negotiating for three weeks now, will manage to reach a consensus and form an alliance, according to the guests of the talk-show “Moldova live” on public TV Moldova 1. The reason for this is that the three parties want to keep hold of power, IPN reports.
Corneliu Ciurea, expert at “IDIS” Viitorul, is confident that the pro-European parties will form a coalition. “I think it would be stupid to give up power because of some ambitions. I'm sure that each party has delegated very good negotiators who will reach a consensus”, said Ciurea.
The experts sees nothing wrong with the duration of negotiations. “In the electoral campaign, almost everyone expected that a government coalition without the Communists would be impossible. The foreign agencies worked hard to facilitate a coalition between the pro-Europeans and the Communists. However, the result of elections allows for a parliamentary majority consisting only of pro-European parties. It's okay that parties negotiate. The experience of countries with advanced democracies shows that such talks can last longer, even for two months”, added Ciurea.
Journalist Valeriu Renita, former adviser to President Vladimir Voronin, is in agreement with Ciurea that the pro-European parties will manage to form a government coalition. “I don't think we'll have early elections. The three parties have invested big resources and won't give up power. I also think they won't invite the Communists to join the talks. Until they finish the negotiations, there will be no talks with Communists”, said Renita.
Former spokesman of ex-President Petru Lucinschi, journalist Anatolie Golea, said that the pro-European parties will struggle to form an alliance because of differences regarding the sharing of offices. Golea is indignant at the lack of transparency and the duration of talks between the three parties, that disregard the people who are awaiting the results.
