“Democracy means direct involvement of civil society in resolving daily problems. This will be done until Moldova’s application for admission to the EU will be accepted,” Val Butnaru, the head of the civic forum “Pro Europa” said in the second rally in support of the reconstitution of the Alliance for European Integration held on December 19, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The organizers of the forum voiced hope that a decision as regards the formation of the future government alliance will be taken this week.
Sandu Grecu, artistic director and first director of the Municipal Theater “Satiricus I. L. Caragiale”, condemned the position of the PDM that the head of state should be elected by a simple majority. “This is full dictatorship that we will never be able to abandon. It is a shame to amend the Constitution as one wishes,” said Sandu Grecu.
Those who took part in the rally stressed that the Democratic Party is flirting with the negotiations held with the Communists. It is this party that keeps the voters in suspense. Commenting on the PDM’s negative reaction to the first rally organized by the civic forum, the speakers said that Marian Lupu does not understand what does it mean to demand rights in the square.
“It is a kind of a boxing match. If you make mistakes, you will be penalized,” stressed Ion Ungureanu, former Minister of Culture.
The participants in the meeting said the recent vote recount was too costly and was done to please the PCRM.
The forum’s secretary Roman Mihaes called on the political parties to respect the will of those who voted for entry into the EU and on the Moldovan people to support the initiative of a group of people of culture to prove the general wish to follow the path to European integration, which was expressed in the Great National Assembly Square on December 26.
The civic forum “Pro Europa” brings together nongovernmental organizations and personalities from culture, arts, the press and other areas that are in favor of the European integration and Moldova’s democratization and modernization.
