Prizes worth €560,000 for Moldovan Olympians

The Government has allocated financial means, equivalent to €560,000, for the rewarding of Moldovan athletes’ performances at the London Summer Olympics, that took place between July 27 and August 12, reports Info-Prim Neo. Weightlifters Cristina Iovu and Anatolie Ciricu, bronze medal holders, will receive €80,000 each. Athlete Zalina Marghieva will receive €30,000 for ranking 8th, and €20,000 each will go to Dan Olaru for ranking 9th in archery, Sergiu Toma, for 9th place in Judo, and Vasile Belous, for ranking 9th in boxing. Athlete Ion Luchianov, who ranked 10th, and Svetlana Saenco, 10th in female wrestling, will each get €10,000, and Nicolae Ceban will receive €7,000 for his 11th place in wrestling. Sums equal to those received by the athletes will be given to their trainers, doctors and masseurs. The awarding ceremony will take place on Friday, August 17. Premier Vlad Filat thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the Moldovan Olympians, mentioning that these results are the consequence of the preparation activities towards this important sports forum.
