The foreign citizens or stateless persons who have a good economic and financial reputation will be able to obtain Moldovan nationality in privileged conditions. This applies to those who implement public sustainable development projects during 60 months and members of their families. A bill to this effect was approved by the Parliament’s commission for appointments and immunities, IPN reports.
The applicants for nationality in privileged conditions should make larger investments in Moldova by transferring a contribution to the public investment for sustainable development fund. The minimum contribution is to be agreed by the executive.
“We consider Moldova should have such a state program for granting nationality in exchange for investments in the national economy. We must realize that Moldova has a unique chance to make use of the liberalized visa regime with the EU and other states and of its geographical position and closer cultural and linguistic values when a lot of persons want to obtain Moldovan nationality in advantageous conditions for the Moldovan economy,” says the informative note to the bill.
The bill was drafted by a group of MPs, including Democrats Andrian Candu, Sergiu Sarbu and Corneliu Padnevici, Liberal MP Roman Botan and unaffiliated MP Igor Vremea. This is to be examined by Parliament.
