A bill suggesting that the medical oncological prophylaxis, diagnostic, treatment and supervision services should be provided also by private medical-sanitary institutions, not only the public ones was registered with the Parliament’s Standing Bureau, IPN reports.

The legislative initiative was put forward by a group of MPs, who include Head of Parliament Andrian Candu. The MPs said the measure is aimed at generating more benefits. The private economic entities will make costly investments to ensure modern technologies and better treatment conditions for patients. Also, the patients will have alternatives in the treatment of oncological diseases.

The authors of the bill consider the number of people suffering from cancer who go abroad for treatment will decrease and the financial burden on these will be reduced by offering them less costly opportunities in Moldova.

The number of foreign patients who will choose private medical institutions in Moldova is expected to rise.

The quality of medical oncological services in the public sector will also increase owing to the competition on the part of the private sector. Moreover, new jobs will be created and the contributions to the public budget from the activity of private institutions will be augmented.
