About 50 housing sector managers of Centru district of Chisinau took part in a meeting with the administration of the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”. The meeting centered on the implementation of the Priority Investment Program that is financed by the EBRD.

According to a press release of the company, the meeting participants discussed the risks persisting when the conditions of the donors regarding the adjustment of water and sewerage charges are not met.

The company’s technical director Vitalie Midari said that when the wear degree of the over 2,000 km of water pipes managed by SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” is of over 70%, the implementation of the Priority Investment Program is crucial. The program envisions the rehabilitation of 205 km of water pipes, over 3,000 of water mains in apartment buildings and about 15 km of sewer pipes.

“Though the company’s financial resources are annually used to rehabilitate the water and sewer pipes in Centru sector of Chisinau, an evident improvement in the situation will be seen when the PIP program is launched and massive works to rehabilitate the networks in quarters and the water mains are executed,” stated Vitalie Midari.

The meeting also discussed the new regulations concerning the water supply and sewerage service that took effect recently. The company’s director for relations with the clients Vladimir Mocreac said now SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” has legal possibilities of signing direct contracts with owners or lessors of apartments in condominiums.
