Printing of ballots for November 5 general local elections underway

The Central Election Commission started to print the ballots for the November 5 general local elections. In total, there will be printed 7 669 667 ballots and 6 068 878 of these will be in Romanian, while the rest will be in Russian, IPN reports.

As many as 2 143 410 pink ballots will be printed for the post of mayor. As many ballots will be printed for the post of councilor of the first level, but these will be smoky gray in color.

For the post of district/municipal councilor, there will be printed 2 632 947 beige ballots, while for the posts of mayor general of the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti – a total of 749 900 violet ballots.

The ballots will have different lengths, depending on the number of candidates written on the ballot. The shortest ballots are those for localities where by only one candidate was registered – about 10 cm. The longest ballot is 75 cm in length and contains 30 candidates for councilor on the local council of Congaz village of ATU Gagauzia.

For the elections to the Chisinau and Comrat municipal councils, where there are 35 and, respectively, 56 election contenders, the ballots will be printed in the form of a brochure.

The cost of a ballot depends on its length – 0.57 lei to 0.93 lei, except for the ballots in the form of a brochure, whose price is of 1.25 lei for the municipality of Chisinau and 4.35 lei for the municipality of Comrat.

The 7 893 models of ballots are printed at three publishing houses – the Polygraphic Combine, the Central Publishing House and Universul publishing house. The total cost of the print run is 5.7 million lei.
