Prince Radu of Romania on September 28 was conferred the honorific title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in gratitude and appreciation for the promotion of authentic moral and cultural values and for his contribution to strengthening the Moldovan-Romanian cooperation relations.
“Prince Radu made numerous visits to the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The overflowing energy, full devotion, competence and arduousness with which he becomes involved in what he does gives elegance and expressiveness to his scientific discourse. For his prodigious career and in recognition of his professional and diplomatic value and scientific prestige, the University of the Academy of Sciences decided to confer the honorific title of Doctor Honoris Causa on Prince Radu of Romania,” said the Academy’s vice president Ion Guchyak.
Minister of Education Corina Fusu underlined the important role played by the representatives of the Royal House in Moldova. “Your presence in Moldova is important because you, together with the entire royal family, play a special role and inspire the people, making them feel proud of themselves,” she stated.
In his speech, Prince Radu said that the human freedoms and development are the most important virtues. “Any kind of human or institutional contribution is judged by the trace they leave, by the result they produce. Moldova’s history is centuries long, but the last century and a half brought the greatest accomplishments and also the greatest sufferings to the people from here,” he stated.
Within his visit to Moldova, Prince Radu of Romania said that one male student and one female student of the University of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova will annually receive the scholarships “King Ferdinand” and “Queen Maria” at the Peles Palace in Romania.
