Prime Minister urges water suppliers to give up disconnecting debtors

The prime-minister Vasile Tarlev asked the water suppliers not disconnect from the aqueduct the persons that have debts. In a request addressed to the Chisinau Mayoralty, “Apa-Canal Chisinau” joint-stock company and to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Tarlev states that massive disconnects of water are inconceivable taking into consideration the imminent risk of diarrhea diseases foci and of bird flu in neighbor countries. The prime-minister asked the responsible bodies to identify other modalities for making citizens pay for water services. Solicited by Info-Prim Neo, the press secretary of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC), Vadim Iutesh mentioned that the enterprise is obliged to obey prime-minister’s orders, but it will be extremely hard to identify other solutions for sanctioning the citizens that do not pay in time for the offered services. On the whole, 54 Flat Owners Associations and Cooperatives had to be disconnected until the end of May. The debts of the consumers to ACC amount to 260 million lei, of which over 140 million are the debts of the population.
