Prime Minister Tarlev promised that taxes for student’s hostels will not increase in the following 2 months

Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev assured the students from Chisinau’s higher educational institutions that the accommodation fees for the student’s hostels will remain at the price of May 1 2006 for at least 2 months. According to a press release of the Government, as result of the requests of students and youth organizations prime minister Vasile Tarlev forwarded an order to the Ministry of Education and Youth, of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to examine the situation and to keep for 2 months the fees for accommodations in the hostels of higher and specialty education institutions at the level of May 1 2006. Tarlev arranged for the assembly of work groups within the higher and specialty education institutions, which during 45 days, together with representatives of student organizations, will elaborate a new concept of the payment system for the accommodations. Previously, sources from the Ministry of Education and Youth declared that the increase in accommodation fees will be announced after a Government decision is signed, therefore the old system, in which budgetary students paid only 30% of the real costs, will be abolished.
