The governmental team led by Prime Minister designate Natalia Gavrilița will go to Parliament to ask for a vote of confidence next week, the leader of the Party of Action and Solidary Igor Grosu announced. At the same time, only two parliamentary groups stated trenchantly that they will not back the Gavrilița Government – of the PAS and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. The other groups said they need time to take a final decision, IPN reports.
The Socialists said they will decide the fate of the Gavrilița Government the day the governmental team is presented in Parliament, not yet before putting questions and finding out what solutions the executive has for overcoming the economic and pandemic crisis.
“Even if Maia Sandu made a public call not to vote for this Government, we consider Missis Gavrilița should come up with a professional program and should at least try to persuade Parliament,” Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV channel.
The PAS MPs insist on triggering snap parliamentary elections, but do not rule out the possibility that the Gavrilița Government will be voted in.
“If the PSRM plays a trick and avoids snap elections, we will assume governance, but snap elections will anyway be induced. The solution is to clean Parliament. Any minority Government will be controlled by the undeclared coalition between the PSRM and Shor Party,” stated PAS MP Igor Grosu.
“Even if we have another opinion about the situation in the country and pointed to particular risks to which the county is exposed if snap elections are organized by Dodon’s Government, given that the PAS refuses to vote for the own candidate, the DA Platform decided not to vote for Missis Gavrilița too,” said PPPDA MP Alexandru Slusari.
The MPs of the Democratic Party and Pro Moldova are not in favor of snap elections amid the economic crisis, but will take a decision whether to support the Gavrilița Government or not only after they discuss with the Prime Minister designate.
“We want to have a discussion with Missis Gavrilița, with the team to see how she considers the events should develop until the elections. We will then decide. I want to calm everyone down - the PDM does not have the capacity to influence this situation,” said Democratic MP Dumitru Diacov.
“As there is no intention to govern and some of the groups already stated that they will not support this Government, there is no use debating a government program when everyone accepts mutually that at least the first attempt should fail. But we will decide later,” said Pro Moldova MP Andrian Candu.
The members of the parliamentary platform “For Moldova” said they are ready to assume governance and even have an apolitical candidate for premiership.
“The platform “For Moldova” is for snap elections, but until those snap elections are held, we need to take urgent measures. To stabilize the economic situation and to bring vaccines to the country, we need an interim Government and we are ready to propose it,” said the member of “For Moldova” Sergiu Sîrbu.
Under the law, if Parliament fails for two times to vote in a new Government, while the Constitutional Court ascertains the circumstances that justify the dissolution of the legislature, this is dissolved and snap parliamentary elections are called.
