The new Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, received congratulatory messages from several foreign officials on the occasion of the government appointment. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitri Medvedev, expressed his confidence that the activity of Prime Minister Chicu and his cabinet of ministers will contribute to the development of a constructive dialogue between the two countries.
According to a government press release, in terms of bilateral relations, addressing several topics of national importance is able to determine important progress in social and economic fields.
Ion Chicu was also congratulated by the EBRD president, who assured the prime minister that the institution will remain a reliable partner in supporting economic development in the Republic of Moldova, including by helping to attract direct investments. In the same message, the EBRD president invited the prime minister to the Eastern Partnership Summit, which will be held in London, on November 22.
The Slovak ambassador, Dušan Dacho, expressed his high appreciation of the bilateral relations between the countries and his confidence that there will be a multidimensional development of the partnership once Ion Chicu undertakes the duties of prime minister. The ambassador wished the prime minister a successful mandate.
On Thursday, November 14, the Parliament granted a vote of confidence to the cabinet of ministers led by Ion Chicu and supported his government agenda. The new government was voted by 62 Socialist Party and Democratic Party MPs. ACUM bloc MPs left the chamber before the voting procedure commenced.
