Price to carrot and cabbage increased, and the onion cheapened

On 13-17 March 2006, the price to carrot and cabbage increased, and the onion cheapened. According to survey made by National Federation AGROInform, the average weekly price to carrot, on those five markets monitored of republic, registered an increasing tendency, with 19.4% getting from 8.0 lei/kg. The cheapest on the internal market during last week the carrot was sold in Balti at the price of 6.5 lei/kg. The maxim price, of 11.5 lei/kg, was registered in town Edinet. The average price to cabbage increased with 4.8%, to 6.6 lei/kg. The minimum weekly price to cabbage, of 5.5 lei/kg, was registered on the market of town Edinet, and the maximum price – in Balti and Cahul (7.3 lei/kg). In the same time, in the same period, the onion cheapened with 4.7%, to 4.1 lei/kg. The cheapest price on internal price in this period the onion was sold on the market of Edinet at the price of 3,5 lei/kg. The most expensive price of onion was in Chisinau and Balti at th4e average weekly price of 4.4 lei/kg. A comparison of the prices on agricultural markets of Moldova and those from Iasi (Romania), Odessa (Ukraine) and Saintt Petersburg (Russia) shows that average prices in region are higher.
