The price of wheat has decreased by about 30% this month. Alexandru Slusari, chairman of the National Federation of Employers in Agriculture and Food Industry, has told IPN that the price of wheat last year was 3 lei, while this year is 2 lei.
Alexandru Slusari said the prices of other grains also fell. Only the price of barley diminished slightly – from 3 lei last year to 2.40 lei this year.
According to Slusari, such a situation is due to overproduction and to the lack of influential policy to support the farmers so as to ensure a balance on the home market.
