Six children didn’t attend school in the municipality of Chisinau in 2012, while nine children abandoned school, by three more than in 2011. The head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb told the press that the prevention of school abandonment and the integration of all the children into schools represent the priorities of 2013. Among other major priorities are to improve the material base of the education institutions so as to ensure the smooth running of the education process and to implement the reform promoted by the Ministry of Education, namely the switchover to financial autonomy, which will represent a challenge for many institution managers. The Swiss buffets project that is now implemented in six institutions will be extended to cover another 12 institutions. Among the successes of the year, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb mentioned the school and our-of-school contests at which children from the municipality of Chisinau achieved good results and the approval of a set of necessary normative documents.
