The pressure all over the gas pipeline network system of Moldovatransgaz is above the critical levels and continues to grow. The volume of natural gas that was to go into the interconnection points with Ukraine on November 2 was 14.2 million m3, as opposed to the 5.7 million m3 shipped daily in October, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
The Ministry noted that the Thermoelectric Plant CET Sursa 1 of Termoelectrica in the immediate period will switch back from fuel oil to natural gas. The reserves of alternative fuel will be supplemented.
Of the 4,430 facilities connected to the centralized system, about 75% of 3,335 are situated in the municipality of Chisinau, with over 2,500 of these being apartment buildings and representing over 90% of the housing stock. More than 130 apartment buildings were to be connected on November 2. Of the over 2,800 unconnected blocks, about 170 weren’t connected because the building managers haven’t yet asked to be supplied with heat.
In the municipality of Bălți, the Thermoelectric Plant CET-Nord on October 30 returned to a normal work regime and started to connect the consumers according to the timetable and the technological production regimes. All the social facilities and over 400 apartment buildings of 719 were connected there. Termogaz-Bălți also received the necessary amounts of natural gas and connected the serviced social facilities and apartment buildings.
Before the new gas supply contract was signed, Russia’s Gazprom provided only about 60% of the necessary gas to Moldova and the gas pipeline network system was at risk of going out of order. To maintain the necessary level, Moldova sought help from Romania and Ukraine and, for the first time in its history, bought gas from alternative sources.
