Press Release

about the organization of the debate “What do the politicians think about us, the society, when throwing eggs at each other, rants and offensive words? What do we, the society, think about this kind of political relations?” within the project “Developing political culture in public debates. Series of debates held by Info-Prim Neo news agency in its conference room”, supported by the German Foundation “Hanns Seidel”

The third public debate, organized on March 7, 2012, was similar to the first two, but Info-Prim Neo agency was better prepared as a host to face already familiar changes. Representatives of a political party firmly refused to participate, while the representative of another party failed to show up despite confirming his participation earlier that day. The solution found by Agency was to invite a political analyst who would try to explain the position of the respective parties as an insider. Discussions proved the necessity and usefulness of such an exercise as otherwise this and the other debates would have been impossible. But this solution is unproductive and even harmful for the development of political culture in Moldova

The debate, especially between the participants in the two discussed conflicts, were heated, yet calm, civilized and therefore useful. Once again, the experts expressed opinions about the political behavior in some concrete conflicts and came up with solutions based on the theory and practice of local and universal political culture.

A noteworthy moment was when an uninvited expert in electoral technologies showed up. He said he wanted to clarify some things for himself, but also contributed to the exchange of opinions during the debate.

All the participants in the debate, just like the previous ones, appreciated the idea of the project and the series of debates positively, hence the civilized tone of all the messages launched by participants. The project proves that Moldovan politicians have some aptitude for learning from the school of international political culture, especially the European one.

The spirit of the debate was reflected in 4 materials published by the Agency (see the English version of the site
