The Presidents of Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia congratulated Maia Sandu on the occasion of her investiture as President of the Republic of Moldova. The letter signed by the seven Presidents says Maia Sandu received a powerful mandate from the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who are waiting for changes, a more ambitious reform agenda, democracy and closer ties with the EU, IPN reports.
The officials state their full support for Maia Sandu in her efforts to consolidate and do reforms based on democratic values, fundamental freedoms and the rule of law. “We are near President Maia Sandu in her efforts to establish a functional democratic system in the Republic of Moldova, which reflects the will of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We are also ready to share our reform and that European integration experience that can contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of the Republic of Moldova on its path to the European Union,” runs the letter.
The Presidents express their support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and the European path chosen by the country’s citizens.
The letter was signed by the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, President of Latvia Egils Levits, President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, President of Poland Andrzej Duda, President of Romania Klaus Iohannis and President of Slovakia Zuzana Čaputová.
