The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will come to Chisinau next week. They will take part in the third Eastern Partnership summit of heads of state whose parties are members of the European People’s Party (EPP). The event will take place on July 11, Larisa Manole, head of the press office of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, which forms part of the EPP, has told IPN.
Mikheil Saakashvili heads the United National Movement Party of Georgia, while Serzh Sargsyan leads the Republican Party of Armenia. Both of the parties are members of the European People’s Party. EPP president Wilfried Martens will also come to Chisinau.
Besides Moldova, Georgia, and Armenia, the Eastern Partnership also includes Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan. According to Larisa Manole, the politicians ruling in Ukraine and Belarus do not form part of parties that are members of the EPP. It is not yet known if Azerbaijan will be represented at the summit in Chisinau.
