On December 24, it will be a year since Maia Sandu took office as President of the Republic of Moldova. “It was a full, hard year with good and bad moments, but also a year when we started the process of transforming our country,” says a message that accompanies the video disseminated by the presidential administration. The authors ”showed how Moldova changed the passing year”.
The Republic of Moldova changed “through the replacement of the political class” The film shows a number of controversial persons who during the last two years left the Republic of Moldova and some of them were put on the wanted list, being accused of the “theft of the century”: Vladimir Plahotniuc, Ilan Șor, Constantin Botnari, former secretary general of PDM, Veaceslav Platon, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, Vladimir Andronache.
“Persons who replaced parties, who took money for switching parties and who – many of them – represented corrupt groups, not the interests of citizens,” said President Maia Sandu, referring to MPs who now form part of Șor Party.
The film also tells about the PAS’ victory in the parliamentary elections, underlining that it is the first center-right party in Moldova’s history that gained a majority of seats of MP.
The authors also mentioned the leaving of the posts of party leaders by such politicians as Andrian Candu, Dorin Chirtoacă, Pavel Filip and Igor Dodon. “We changed the face of the political class. Now we have a majority of honest people in Parliament and this gives the opportunity to promote reforms, to bring things in order, as we promised to the citizens,” stated Maia Sandu, noting they will further work to ensure the parties are funded transparently and correctly and the political competition is a competition of ideas, not of pockets connected to state funds.
Maia Sandu was installed President of the Republic of Moldova on December 24, 2020, following the victory scored in the presidential runoff of November 15.
