The presidential administration will make approaches to the Government to reactivate the order by which the mass media benefits from the lowest possible hire charge, in accordance with the law, on areas owned by the Government. The secretary general of the presidential administration Andrei Spînu made such an announcement after the State Chancellery initiated negations for increasing rental at the Press Housie that is managed by the Government, IPN reports.

In a post on Facebook, Andrei Spînu said the press should be supported not only by statements at public events or on TV, but also by actions, either someone likes or does not like the way in which the media outlets do their job. “In times of a pandemic, when we should think how to help, someone starts to negotiate for increasing the charges for the mass media,” said Andrei Spînu.

Two days ago, nongovernmental organizations of the mass media sector expressed their concern about the State Chancellery’s intention to increase rental for the media outlets based in publicly owned buildings and asked to urgently intervene so as not to allow this to happen. Yesterday, the State Chancellery provided details, noting it made use of its right to initiate the renegotiation of the renting conditions based on the prices existing on the market, the offer of the applicants and other conditions on the real estate market.
