President Voronin officially proposes Zinaida Greceanai as prime-minister to Parliament

Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin read out, on Friday, March 21, in the Parliament’s sitting, the decree on appointing Zinaida Greceanai as a candidate to the position of Prime-Minister. Zinaida Greceanai is authorized to work out the governing program and the list with members of the Cabinet and to present them to the parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports. The decree has been handed by the President to the Parliament’s speaker. Marian Lupu has said the Parliament has two weeks since the candidate was appointed to consider and vote for the new cabinet. The Parliament accepted the resignation of Premier Vasile Tarlev on March 20. Born on February 7, 1956, in the Russian region of Tomsk, Zinaida Greceanai graduated the Financial-Economic College from Chisinau and the State University. She is an economist. Married, a mother of two. In the recent years she was deputy minister of finance (2000-2001,), prime deputy minister of finance (2001-2002,) ad interim minister of finance and finally minister of finance (2002-2005). Since October 10, 2005, she has served first deputy prime-minister.
