“Moldova's cautious, balanced position in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, the country's consistent and methodical euromodernization, realized without emotional slogans, finally draw the attention to Moldova and to its experience in this regard,” Moldova's Vladimir Voronin told Friday's sitting of the European Integration National Commission. According to President Voronin's press unit, he has said the events in the Caucasus prove that only an atmosphere of stability, tolerance dialog is able to serve as a basis for any positive project. “I'm very glad that avoiding the confrontation, the stability and the predictability are again in demand on the market of political moods. In this regard, better chances have emerged for Moldova. And not only chances to really step up the process of solving the Transnistrian issue, but also to considerably move along on the European way,” the head of the state said. The President points out that now Brussels is developing a new project “The Eastern Partnership”, to be founded on the ideas of some EU countries and which already was mirrored in the joint statement by the EU and Ukraine. It is expected that the new partnership will provide for important integrationist elements as the enhanced free trade, the mobility of labor, and, possibly, a road map for liberalizing the visa regime. Vladimir Voronin specifies this is what they'll talk about at the negotiations between the EU and Moldova on a new accord. This is namely what interests us in the most serious way, he said. The President has underlined the Moldovan authorities should get ready seriously for the 3-October sitting of the EU-Moldova Cooperation Committee. The President assesses Moldova's efforts and the changing geopolitical realities will enable the European Commission to step up the development of the mandate on the new Moldova-EU accord. The next sitting of the European Integration National Commission will take place on October 21.
