The president of the Republic of Moldova was decorated with the Russian order “Saint Prince Alexander Nevski” of I degree, “for substantial merits and contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Moldova and Russia”. According to a press release of the Presidency, the decoration was offered to the head of state by the Academy for security problems, defense and rule of law of the Russian Federation “as a sign of gratitude for his efforts in promoting cultural and spiritual values, keeping and perpetuating the memory of the soviet soldiers who died fighting with the fascist forces, as an appreciation for the support veterans and the veteran organizations receive from Moldovan authorities”. The decoration was given to the president of the Republic of Moldova by a delegation of the mentioned-above structure, headed by the deputy-chairman Anatoly Butenko, who declared that this order talks about the “special moral and spiritual qualities of its owner”. According to the press release, Vladimir Voronin declared that he is deeply touched by the high appreciation of the results of his activity by the prestigious Academy of the Russian Federation, emphasizing that “the actions regarding the reconstruction of monuments dedicated to the World War II, supporting morally and materially the veterans, of cultivating the respect for the past, the policies promoted for strengthening the civic and interethnic peace are welcomed by the Moldovan society”. “Everything is done for people, so they could have a proper life in their country”, Vladimir Vornin said. The Academy for security problems, defense and rule of law of Russian Federation was created due to the support of several governmental and presidential structures of the Russian Federation, having over 6000 active members, important representatives of scientific, cultural, political, civil circles, inclusively president Vladimir Putin, the head of the Russian State Duma, Boris Grizlov, the head of the Ministers Council, Mihail Fradkov, the mayor of Moscow Iuri Lujkov, the minister of defense Serghei Ivanov.
