The delay in the adoption of the State’s Informational Security Concept endangers the informational security of the Republic of Moldova which, in the opinion of President Vladimir Voronin, is insufficiently protected. Vladimir Voronin, was reported by the presidential Press Service as saying that the informational society building process, besides benefits, implies certain risks for the informational security, and therefore, for the national security. This fact requires the implementation of a wide range of measures both legal and practical. Vladimir Voronin chaired the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, pointing out the lack of methodological and practical coordination in the system of public administration authorities concerning the informational security. According to Vladimir Voronin, the public authorities’ databases are not adjusted to the actual requirements and are not interconnected. The head of state also mentioned the insufficient utilisation of information technology by the public administration bodies, in particular, the low level of computerisation, reduced use of electronic communication systems, including legislative and normative databases, and the web pages of public authorities. The Supreme Security Council agreed on the need to hasten the approval of the Informational Security Concept by the Government. The Executive is to ensure the harmonisation of special electronic databases administrated by public authorities with the actual standards as well as their interconnection within the standards of the informational security.
