President Maia Sandu signed a decree to suspend Rodica Antoci from the post of president of the National Integrity Authority (NIA) after she took note of the Integrity Council’s relevant decision, IPN reports.
The NIA president and another female employee of the institution are investigated for abuse of office. At the end of January, anticorruption prosecutors and officers carried out searches in the home and office of Rodica Antoci, Later, she was classed as a suspect.
On March 18, the Integrity Council decided to suspend her from post. In reaction, Rodica Antoci said that attempts are being made to shut her up, including by fabricated criminal cases. She expressed her determination to prove her innocence in national and in international courts, if necessary.
