President Maia Sandu requested the Government to consider temporarily amending the legislation so as to enable the police to maintain public order even when particular players of the local administration sabotage the Government’s efforts to keep stability and order in the country. The official thanked the police for intervening in a professional way, by avoiding violence, to take away the illegally pitched tents and to enable the residents of Chisinau to move freely, IPN reports.

“The destabilization attempts we have witnessed in the recent past are made by the grouping for stealing and war, which is afraid of jail and is ready to set fire to the country in order to save its skin. The members of this grouping want to avoid jail for the thefts committed in the past and to revive the corruption schemes. They try to use the difficult situation in which the country is now due to the war in Ukraine to destabilize it and to cause chaos. They want to create conflict situations in different regions of the country so as to divide us. They aim to come to power so much that they promise Moscow to disrupt constitutional order and to establish a government through which Russia could use our country in the war. I tell them clearly - don’t have illusions,” Maia Sandu stated in a press briefing.

The official called on them not to waste the money of teachers, doctors and pensioners whom they robbed by burning it in protests as they will not succeed. Moreover, treason will be harshly penalized. “I thank the police for intervening in a professional way, by avoiding violence, to remove the illegally pitched tents and to enable the residents of Chisinau to move freely. These actions by the grouping for stealing and war are provocative and should be punished in accordance with the law. We further bank on the police force and the carabineers in maintaining public order and peace in society,” said President Sandu.

She called on society not to blame those who are influenced to take part in protests by being offered money. “We know that the thieves use them for their purposes. We realize the difficulties experienced by these people and by those who, despite the difficulties, continue earning their living honesty. The Government is doing its utmost to help the people cope with the rising prices,” said the official.

“We all see how the corrupt people agonize and cry. They teach us life lessons. We do not yet accept life and democracy lessons from individuals who stole billions from the people and subdued the state so as to steal unrestrictedly. We do not accept life lessons from the offenders owing to whom Moldova is poor, vulnerable and fully dependent in terms of energy. Where was their care when they were stealing with sacks? They do not care about the people and only use their poverty that they created themselves. We do not accept patriotism lessons from traitors who want to involve our country in war.”
