President rejects another judicial appointment proposal

President Nicolae Timofti rejected the proposal of the Superior Council of Magistrates (SCM) to appoint Veronica Cupcea as investigative judge until statutory retirement, the presidential press service reported. The reason brought forth by the President is that Veronica Cupcea, who currently serves as a Chair Judge of the Orhei District Court, has been the subject of a disciplinary probe for alleged breach of impartiality and other violations. This is the third judicial appointment proposal from the SCM to be rejected by President Nicolae Timofti.
