The president of the Law and Justice Association, Marcel Darie, launches accusations of corruption against the chief prosecutor of the Chisinau municipality, Oleg Afanasii.
In a press conference at IPN, Marcel Darie said that he has filed a complaint on behalf of Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu, calling for Oleg Afanasii to be held criminally responsible for taking bribes.
According to Darie, Oleg Afanasii allegedly received €30,000 from Nicanor Chitoroaga, a former policeman, to cover up a crime of fraud committed by the latter.
Marcel Darie claims that Oleg Afanasii instructed prosecutors to refuse to prosecute the case. Meanwhile, for four years, the Balti company targeted by the scam has been seeking justice in court. The court has twice ruled in the company's favor and forced the prosecutor's office to prosecute, but this did not happen.
Marcel Darie says that he denounced the chief prosecutor of the Chisinau municipality in several complaints filed with the General Prosecutor's Office, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the PCCOCS two months ago, but nothing happened.
